    Veterans Helping Hand Fund

    Providing emergency assistance for adults 18+ with a history of service in the military in the home or community . A referral is required for enrollment.

    Program Overview

    Veterans Helping Hand Fund
    Wesley Family Services has established the Veterans Helping Hand Fund to provide emergency assistance to local veterans experiencing financial hardship.

    Through generous donations from community organizations, fundraisers, and veterans organizations, we are able to assist eligible veterans with:

    • Utility assistance
    • Food
    • Clothing
    • Housing assistance
    • Other emergency needs

     

    REFERRAL REQUIREMENTS
    Referrals must be submitted by a provider or agency that is actively working with the veteran. Please email adminsc@wfspa.org or call 412-518-6029 for more information on the referral process.

    Referrals may be submitted by a:

    • Service coordinator
    • Case manager
    • Social worker
    • VA staff member
    • Veteran service organization
    • Other community provider actively assisting the veteran

    The referring provider is responsible for assisting the veteran in obtaining and submitting all required documentation.

    Eligibility Requirements
    Applicants must provide:

    • DD214 showing at least one day of active-duty military service or a valid VA identification card.

    • Documentation verifying the emergency need, such as an eviction notice, utility shut-off notice, emergency shelter verification, or other applicable documentation (may include W9 and billing statement or invoice).

    • Verification that household income is at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for Westmoreland County.
